No one really quite understands, nor can they comprehend, the pain of a long distance relationship. When you love someone so much that you are willing to do all you can, despite the hinderances, to be everything to someone each and every day. Putting all your trust in someone. Putting all your love in someone. That’s not the hardest part. That part orchestrates itself as each day clocks onwards to a yearning reunion. The hardest part is the goodbye. The hardest day is today. You see there’s this girl. This incredible girl. This beautiful stunner of a girl. My best friend. We’re as close as two people could ever be. We put everything into getting through the quiet days and the lonely nights because we both know that there is nothing that makes us happier than being together. Holding her in my arms, especially after being apart for so long; words cannot even express. It’s something so simple. It’s a fundamental human need to feel as if they belong. To feel at home. To feel loved. We are more than fortunate to have both found each other, to have grown together and to have flourished in the most unlikely of meetings. That’s where the pain comes from, how we have flourished and how we grown. Ask anyone that knows us, when we are together we are inseparable. Yet today always comes. I have to return to England after the most amazing weeks together here in America. I have to tear myself away from the one person I don’t ever want to leave. I have to walk away from the person I care about more than anyone and leave them to cry alone. Rachael, if you’re reading this, I hope you know how grateful I am to have you in my life. You make me so ridiculously happy, you inspire me each and every day. It’s been tough, no doubt, but an unforgettable and remarkable year with you in my life. Don’t ever doubt it, we’ll make it. I promise. We both already know how rewarding the wait is, through all the loneliness, because together we’re Rachael & Jordan.
